THREE LOSING CANDIDATES IN ILOILO CITY FAILED TO SUBMIT THEIR STATEMENT OF CONTRIBUTIONS AND EXPENDITURES BEFORE DEADLINE
Three candidates who lost in the May 13 elections in Ilo-ilo city failed to submit their statement of contributions and expenditures (SOCE) to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) after the deadline for the submission on Thursday.
The three candidates identified by Comelec-Iloilo supervisor Atty. Jessie Suarez were Toto-Serapio Camposano who ran for governor and two provincial board candidates Margarito Clavel of 1st District and Romel Conte of 4th District. Suarez also said that apart from the three candidates, they are also validating reports from the municipal level if there are still other candidates who failed to submit the requirement.
Section 4 of Comelec Resolution No. 9476 stated that no person elected to any public office shall enter upon the duties of his office until he has filed the statement of contributions and expenditures herein required.
In case of failure to file statements or reports in connection with the electoral contributions and expenditures, the candidate will be charged administratively and will be liable to pay fine ranging from P1,000 to P30,000 at the discretion of the Commission.
